Army Enhancing National Development Through CSR – COAS

Nigerian Army says over the years, it has taken deliberate steps towards ensuring that it gives back to the society, the co-operation it enjoys by executing some corporate social responsibilities.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya stated this at the commissioning ceremony of civil – military co-operation special intervention projects executed by Commander, Armoured corps, held at Doka community in Kaduna State.

The Army Chief, represented by Major General Victor Ezugwu explained that the commissioned projects are some of the several civil-military co-operation related activities and quick impact projects executed in various parts of the country towards contributing to national development.

While appealing to members of the community to see the projects as a symbol of friendship, Lt. General Yahaya expressed the hope that the projects would serve the collective needs of the community and its immediate environs.

General Yahaya disclosed that the Army and other security agencies are working assiduously to rid the country of criminal activities and other forms of security threats.

Earlier in his remarks, Commander Armoured corps, who is also the project executor, Major General Suleiman Idris explained that he conceived the idea of the projects in order to give back to his community, especially in the areas of provision of water supply and uplifting the standard of education in the area.

He expressed the hope that the projects would go a long way in alleviating the challenges faced by the community in recent past.

The Commander urged citizens of the community to take good care of the facilities, and ensure they are adequately maintained.

General Idris commended the Army Chief for the financial support towards the execution of the projects in the community.

Some of the projects commissioned included renovated examination hall equipped with five hundred chairs and desks at Nurul Islam Academy, six solar powered boreholes at Mai burji, Gaji, Shaba and Liman wards all located at Doka district in Kaduna metropolis.
