Kidnapping : Police Rescue 27 Victims In Zamfara State

Zamfara State Police Command has successfully rescued twenty seven people unconditionally after they were abducted by armed men in Bukkuyum and Anka local government areas of the state.

The Spokesman of the command SP Muhammad Shehu announced this at a press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.

He said the victims were abducted by bandits in Akawa, Gwashi, Tungar Rogo and some villages in Anka local government and taken to Gando/Bagega and Sunke forests in Bukkuyum and Anka local government areas respectively.

According to him, the rescue of the victims was sequel to an intelligence report gathered by the Command that, a group of bandits had invaded the above villages and abducted large number of people and took them to Gando/Bagega/ Sunke forests where they spent a week in captivity.

SP Shehu added that on receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police Mr Kolo Yusuf deployed additional Police Tactical Operatives to reinforce DPOs in Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas and vigilantes to rescue the abducted victims.

The Command’s public relations officer added that, seventeen out of twenty seven were brought to the Police Command Headquarters while the ten other victims are in the hospital receiving medical treatment following the trauma they passed through while in captivity.

He also explained that, all the victims had been debriefed by the police detectives and the Commissioner of Police would formally hand over the victims to state commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, DIG Ibrahim Mamman Tsafe rtd who would on behalf of the state government reunite them with their families.
