KNHA Passes Environmental Pollution Control Bill

Kano State House of Assembly has passed, Kano State Environmental Pollution Control Bill 2022.

The passage of the bill became a reality, after scaling second and third reading during plenary session presided over by the speaker Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim
Chidari.

Speaking to newsmen, majority leader of the house Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari explained that if signed into law, the bill would address issues of soil, air and water pollution in the state.

He however stressed that, the law would also serve as a guide on environmental protection,water and sanitation as well as strengthening other important environmental factors.

In another development, KNHA has screened and confirmed the re-appointment of Alhaji Dahiru Abbas Kachako and Abdallah Abbas as Commissioners, Kano State Independent Electoral Commission.

The confirmation was sequel to adoption of a report, presented by House Standing Committee on Election Matters.

Presenting the report, the committee Chairman, Alhaji Tasi’u Ibrahim Zabainawa who doubles as member representing Minjibir local government area, pointed out that the committee had recommended their reappointment based on merit.

Similarly, the House had also adopted the report of the House Committee on Public Petition, in respect of a petition by the allied traders association of fresh vegetables, onion sellers and tipper operators at Kwanar Ungogo in Ungogo local government Area.

Chairman House standing committee on public petition, Alhaji Umar Musa Gama highlighted several recommendations, which were unanimously supported by the lawmakers.

Part of the recommendations indicated that, the house should call on the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, to direct Ungogo local government council to ensure proper documentation of all issues or agreement to avoid any grievances.

The House adjourned its sitting to Monday 24th October 2022 in a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari, member representing Warawa Constituency
