Bayelsa State caucus in the National Assembly has appealed to the federal government to declare a state of disaster emergency in the state.

They made the plea while briefing the house press corps on the devastation caused by flood in the state this rainy season.

Speaking on behalf of the caucus Mr Frederick Agbedi, explained that the state had been totally sliced off from the rest of the country following serious damages on roads and bridges across the State.

The caucus while sympathizing with victims of the flood disaster assured them that as representatives of the people were working tirelessly in partnership with relevant MDAs to bring succour to the affected populace.

They however, called on the National Emergency Management Agency and other relevant agencies to consider the flight of the flood disaster victims by providing them medicines, foodstuffs and other relief materials.

The lawmakers further lauded the Buhari administration for directing agencies to offer assistance to the people as a step to improve their welfare.
