Federal Government has approved the construction of Kishi-Kaiama road in Kwara state at the contract sum of N27 billion naira .

The state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazq made the disclosure while speaking at the first Kwara North Economic and Development Summit held in Ilorin.

According to him the breakthrough with the federal government made the state government to stop its ongoing work on the road.

He said the state government had taken over the construction of the road in phases to ease transportation challenges along the busy corridor.

AbdulRazq expressed concern over the huge infrastructural deficit in Kwara State, particularly Kwara North.

AbdulRazq maintained that the Kishi-Kaiama road is very important to the whole of the country based on the volume of trade in farm produce in the area.

Earlier in their separate remarks the Emir of Ilesha Baruba Professor Halidu Abubakar, the Emir of Lafiagi, Alhaji Muhammad Kudu Kawu and the Emir of Shonga ,Dr. Haliru Yahaya , advocated the creation of an interface between government, and the private sector to kick start economic growth Kwara North.

They also called for enhanced focus on information and communications technology to leapfrog development in the health sector.
