Zamfara: Address ASUU Strike – Cleric Appeals To FG

The Chief Imam of Muslims Foundation Jumu’at Mosque GRA, Gusau, Dr. Muhammad Tukur Sani Jangebe, has called on federal Government to look into addressing the current strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Sheikh Jangebe, made the appeal in Gusau the state capital, while answering questions from newsmen.

Dr Tukur Jangebe said the strike was seriously affecting the entire teaching and learning system among students and their lecturers across the country.

“We are drawing the attention of the federal government to look into negotiating with ASUU and bring back our children to their respective universities for them to continue with their studies.”

“Everyone knows that the contribution teachers are given in nation building can never be overemphasised and we are calling on government to provide a mechanism to boost their morale,” Jangebe said.

He also called on parents and teachers of various institutions of learning to intensify payers for this development.

Jangebe also called on federal government to look into the ultimatum given by the COEASU in order to salvage the education system of the country from total collapse.

The Chief Imam who is also the former Commissioner for religious affairs in the state prayed for success of 2023 general elections and Peace and stability of the country.
