KDSG To Establish Children’s parliament – Elrufa’i

Governor Nasiru Elrufai has asked the state Commissioners for Human Services and Social Development and that of Justice to draft a Legal and Administrative frame work for the establishment of Children’s parliament.

He stated this when he received a delegation of pupils from Kaduna State public Schools in commemoration of this year’s Children’s Day Celebration held at government House.

Governor Elrufai said the legal frame work will define who should be a member of the parliament, duration among others.

Governor Elrufai expressed hope that, the parliament will be inaugurated before he left office and to enshrine it in the state laws to become part of Kaduna State legal system.

Malam Nasiru Elrufai expressed optimism on the way the students speak good English and made their presentations.

He encouraged the students to focus on their education and building good character.

Malam Nasiru Elrufai also stated that, all the students have the capability to achieve their dream as long as they remained focus.

The Governor also revealed that, Kaduna State is one of the few states in Nigeria that consistently Budget at least fourty percent for it’s total budget every year to improve the lives of children.

He said government spent 540 naira per percent student in a day on feeding in boarding Secondary Schools, stressing that when he came as a governor it was 21 naira per day.

The governor told the students that he had noted all the gaps the students identified, saying that all the relevant Commissioners of Education and Human Services and Social Development are have noted the request to address it.

He expressed hope that, the Commissioners would address all the request before he left office.

The Child Protection Specialist of UNICEF, Kaduna Field office Dr Wilfred Mamah said Kaduna State has achieved alot in terms of law, implementation and rile modelling.

He described children day as a day of celebration and reflection, described Governor Elrufai as a Hero.

Dr Mamah told the students” as you leave here is an opportunity to speak up and so to reflect, what would I do to be able to take this further, to be able to shine light, as you said you have right you also have responsibility.

Earlier, The Advocacy and Communication Coordinator, Save the Children International, Hajiya Murjanatu Kabir who appreciated governor for his tremendous effort in improving the lives of children.

For the Children here” We have heard all the presentations you have made and we heard the most interesting part requesting the government to support you to amplifier your voices by engaging you in decision makings.

She also commended the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development in ensuring that all children are supported, learning, protected and they are surviving.

During the visit, the students made several request to Kaduna State government aimed at improving the lives of children in every aspect.

In a related Development, Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, his deputy Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe and other senior government officials hsd attended a march past by school children to mark the 2022 Children’s Day, on a day that also marks the 55th anniversary of the creation of Kaduna State.

Children from 15 primary and secondary schools across Kaduna State participated in a March Past at Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna.

In his remarks Governor Nasir El-Rufai, reiterated government commitment to the children of Kaduna State.
