FG To Reinvigorate Whistle Blower Policy – Minister

The Federal government says it will step up sensitisation on the whistle Blower policy for effective participation of all Nigerians.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning Dr Zainab Ahmed stated this at the fourth zonal conference on whistle blower policy in Nigeria for the North East zone in Maiduguri. 

Represented by the Director Presidential Initiative of Continuous Audit Malam Aliyu Abubakar, the minister observed that at inception of the policy, people volunteered information about corrupt activities, however the interest has now nosedived.

She therefore called on the participants to cascade the knowledge acquired during the two-day workshop down to their fellow colleagues and members of the public to be adequately enlightened. 

Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum represented by his Deputy Alhaji Umar Kadafur stressed the need to diverse mechanism to avert dangers of corruption and draw a roadmap for dealing with rising wave of corruption in the country. 

He identified communication gap as major impediment mitigating against the whistle blower policy and called on Federal ministry of Finance to educate, sensitize and motivate the public in the fight against corruption. 

Governor Zulum said his administration has introduced the treasury single account TSA resulting in blocking of leakages and enhancing the revenue base of the state.
