Jigawa To Support J-CARES Implementation Stimulus Programme

Jigawa State Government has reiterated its commitment to support J-CARES implement Stimulus programme.

The State Deputy Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi stated this when he received the NG-CARES Advocacy team at his office. 

He appealed to the Federal team to support the state in the implementation of the programme.

Mallam Umar Namadi said the state government will inject funds into J-CARES programme to enable its smooth operation in the state.

According to him, the present administration considers it a matter of utmost significance to implement programmes explicitly tailored to mitigate poverty among people and open new economic horizons for committed youths and entrepreneurs. 

Namadi pointed out that, the administration has so far constructed over 1, 500 kilometer of roads network in the state and it was ranked as the  best State in the federation in  terms of good roads network.

He also disclosed that the state government has distributed  66,000 goats to over 20,000 women in its bid to empower rural women and make them self reliant.

He reaffirmed the state government’s resolved to place high premium on the wellbeing of individuals while also trying to create an environment that allows legitimate businesses and other critical sectors of the economy to function effectively.

In his remarks, leader of the advocacy team to the state, Mr Raphael Obi, commended the state government for supporting the state CARES programme.

He appealed for strict adherence to the NG-CARES Funds Release Policy.

Mr Obi advised the state to inject more funds to get more from the NG CARES purse.

The team leader added that NG-CARES is a state operation with support from the World Bank aim to support the 36 States and FCT mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable households and micro-enterprises in the Country.

Earlier, the team had visited the state commissoner of Finance and Economic Planning, Alhaji Babangida Umar Gantsa who is also the Chairman State Steering Committee of J-CARES and had an interactive meeting with the state CARES coordinating Unit.
