Nigeria Union of journalists, NUJ, has dissolved the executive council of Zamfara State and appointed five man caretaker committee to man the affairs of the union.

This followed a resolution reached between the SEC members of the union, Vice President and Secretary of the union in charge of the north west zone Comrade Muhammad Tukur Umar and Comrade Abdulrazak Bello Kaura.

The tenure of the state Council executives expired early this year and appointed a credentials committee for screening and election of the new executives.

The state Council election had earlier been scheduled to hold on 14th May, 2022 but readjusted to 12th May, 2022 by the National headquarters of the NUJ.

Mean while, Zamfara State Government later suspended it indefinitely due to fear of insecurity and issued a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary ,Ministry of Information, Barrister Sani Nasaawa.

According to the statement, the readjusted date and time is not favourable due to security situation of the state adding that, the Information Ministry was making consultations with the security agencies for appropriate date and time for the conduct of the election.

Those nominated during the meeting were Maharaji Altine from Correspondents chapel as Chairman,, Ahamad Sani Tsafe from Zamfara radio chapel as Secretary, Lawal Tsalha from information Chapel Member , Jamilu Ibrahim from NTA Chapel Member and Rabi Yusuf from Pride FM Chapel as Treasurer .
