A statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer Mr. Micheal Abattam said the arrest followed intelligence that a fleeing native doctor who allegedly prepared charms for members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB had returned to the community.

According to him, the police stormed the shrine of the native doctor and rounded up the suspects who tried to escape after sighting the security agents.

Mr. Abattam explained that the suspects confessed to the killing of the police inspector who happened to be a second wife to one of them, Casmir Mgbugba.

Items allegedly recovered from the suspects were eight locally made pistols, eighteen rounds of live ammunition, a police camouflage uniform belonging to the murdered inspector, Biafran flag, Toyota Camry car, and a live Python harboured inside a cage.

Radio Nigeria reports that the suspects are a seventy-two-year-old man, Clifford Nnadozie, the fifty-three-year-old husband of the slain policewoman Casmir Mgbugba and five others who were between the ages of twenty-two and thirty.
