Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa state has debunked the media report which alleged to have ceded his aspiration towards contesting the presidential election to Mr Rotimi Ameachi, insisting that he is still in the race.

Badaru Abubakar stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in his office at government house Dutse.

He explained that he picked up the APC Presidential nomination form to join the race to serve the country at a higher level, noting that the media reports misquoted that.

“I said and I repeated it, me and Ameachi are APC family members and also belong to President Muhammadu Buhari’s school of thought. Ameachi and l joined hands with others for APC success in 2015 and 2019”

“So if our father, Muhammadu Buhari asked me to stepdown for Ameachi I will not hesitate to do so and equally if he asked him to step down for me I’m sure he will do so” the governor emphasised

Badaru Abubakar, therefore, assured APC delegates and party members that he was still in the race for the Presidential position come, the 2023 general election.

According to him, being well known and also intersected with party delegates from across the country on different occasions he needs not go around canvassing their support.

“All the delegates have known me, they have my track record and know what I can do, I am not new to them and they are not new to me,” he said.

The Presidential aspirant assured the party delegates that he had all that it takes to make the party sustain the power beyond 2023 if given the ticket.
