The Outgoing Director-General of the NYSC, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim has urged the incoming Director-General of the scheme to pay particular attention to the security and general welfare of Corps members and Staff as well as make sustained advocacy for stakeholders’ support one of his priorities.

General Ibrahim made the call during a farewell parade in his honour and at a hand-over ceremony in Abuja.

He said that Corps members and the scheme remained crucial to national unity and integration.

General Ibrahim also appealed to Nigerians to access accurate information about the scheme through its various platforms including Television, Radio and Magazine.

He stated that the day-to-day running of NYSC was one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding experiences of his life.

He listed some of his achievements to include; Inscription of Date of Birth on the Certificate of National Service, Enrolment of Corps members for the National Health Insurance Scheme and Implementation of increased Federal allowance for Corps members

Others ar Successful conduct of Orientation Courses amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Establishment of NYSC Radio and Television and Establishment NYSCWood, with the first main movie titled ‘A Call to Service’.

He urged the incoming Director-General to not only sustain the achievements but surpass them.

The new NYSC DG, Brigadier General Fada gave an assurance that all the achievements would be sustained and that pending projects would be completed.

He appealed to the management of the scheme to give him maximum support for effective service delivery.
