FG Provides Non Food Items To Over 20 Communities In Borno

The Federal government has handed over assorted non food items to Borno state government for the newly resettled Nigerian Refugees.

At a ceremony in Maiduguri, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Hajiya Sadiya Farouq said the President personnally aproved funds for purchase of the items. 

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Bashir Alkali, the Minister expressed commitment of the president to ending insurgency and returning the victims back to their communities. 

Hajiya Sadiya Farouq explained that one of the projects approved by the President is the approval for the purchase of Humanitarian Recovery Needs for returning refugees accommodated in twelve camps across Borno state.

The Minister commended the state Governor  for his concern to the plight of IDPs.

Borno state Governor Babagana Zulum represented by his Deputy Umar Kadafur said the focus of his administration is building the resilience of refugees who have been repatriated back.

According to him, the intervention will go a long way in addressing some concerns of the returnees. 

“Over twenty communities have been resettled back to their ancestral homes and the government of Borno state is making sure we build resilience in all the communities that have been resettled. I assure you that this support that you have delivered to Borno state government and the people of Borno is quite appreciated ” Zulum said.

Items presented include 75,600 pieces of clothing material for Women, 72,000 clothing material for Men, 19,200 Blankets and 19,200 Polythene Mats 19,200.
