Purported Strike, UnEthical— AIG Warns Police

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG in charge of Zone One, AIG Sadiq Abubakar Bello has warned officers and men of Nigerian police Kano Command to Shun any plan on strike action or other forms of deliberate disruption of law enforcement services by any personnel of Nigeria Police Force, NPF is tantamount to mutiny.

The Assistant Inspector General gave the warning while addressing officers and men of the Command in Kano.

He said with regards to a purported strike action scheduled for 26th March 2022 by the police officers in no circumstances should strike action be an option as there are laid down procedures and guidelines for channeling their grievances.

“I want to convey the following message of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman. First, you should be reminded that the Nigeria Police Force is a regimented and disciplined organization with laid down procedures
and guidelines for channeling grievances; and in no circumstance is strike an option”

The AIG promised improved working conditions for the personnel under the leadership of IGP Usman.

” the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman is making to provide an enabling working environment for officers and
men of the force which include Increment in salaries and allowances with effect from January 2022 which is to be paid in arrears”

“Stoppage of the tax deduction for inspectors/rank and file with effect from January 2022, Issuance of uniform, kit, and accouterments to all inspectors/rank and file, review of the NPF housing policy to provide affordable housing units for police officers, especially the junior ranks and Issuance of body armor to all Inspectors and rank and file.

“Similarly is the approval for prompt payment of allowances for personnel on special duty, acquisition and distribution of 30 operational trucks by the IGP, distribution of 200 Toyota ‘buffalo’ trucks acquired and donated to the police by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Dikko said he has ordered all the Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, DPOS as well as Sectional Heads and Tactical Teams to open a register on 26th March 2022 to know who may not come to work.

CP Dikko also noted that he has equally lectured the Departmental Sectional Heads, Area Commanders, and Tactical Teams of the Command to warn all the DPOS; Officers and Men against joining the rumors strike action on the 26th March 2022.

“Based on that, therefore I have suspended casual and annual leaves until further notice.
