The National Examination Council NECO, says it requires over two billion naira for the payment of allowances to its staff on examination duties.

Over four thousand staff of the organization are billed to be engaged for the exercise.
 

NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Officer Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi made  this known while responding to  questions from Radio Nigeria at the end of the opening of  workshop on Quality Assurance in Educational Assessment holding in Minna Niger state.

Prof Dantani Wushishi explained that this followed the upward review of Duty Traveling Allowances of lts staff from sixteen thousand to thirty seven point five thousand naira that was recently approved by the Federal Government.

According to him, the National Examinations Council NECO doesn’t have the money to implement such approval by the Federal Government.

Prof Dantani Wushishi appealed to the Federal Government to come to their aid to enable them discharge their duties deligently to achieve the mandate of setting up NECo.

On efforts by the Federal Government to stop the collection of twenty five percent from NECO examination fees, the Registrar and Chief Executive described it as a welcomed development but however appealed to Federal Government to assist them with funds to comfortably pay the new DTA to its staff.

The theme of NECO workshop is Invigorating and re positioning the National Examinations Council NECO through the instrumentality of Quality Assurance for effective service delivery.
