GBV : British Council Donate Items To NPF Family Support Unit

The British Council has donated COVID-19 and reproductive health items to the Family Support Unit of the Nigerian Police Force in Borno State.

Handing over the items to the state Commissioner of Police at Police Headquarter Maiduguri, Borno State, Team Leader of British Council Managing Conflict in Nigeria, Aminu Buba, said that the intervention is aimed at strengthening the mechanism to support the fight against sexual and gender based violence in the state.

Mr. Aminu explained that the items will enhance family units in three local government areas of Maiduguri metropolis, Biu and Mafa Divisional stations to support the fight against Sexual and Gender Based Violence in Borno State

“We are here to donate COVID-19 items for use in the three Family Support Units we have supported in establishing in the state, with one here in Maiduguri, the two others at Biu and Mafa Divisional Stations. We hope the items will add value to the services the police are providing to the people,” Buba said

Responding, Borno State Commissioner of Police CP Abdu Umar thanked British Council for the gesture and said that the items will go a long way to fast track investigation of sexual and gender based violence in the command.

CP Umar assured that the command will make judicious use of the items to achieve the desire objectives.
