Independent Investigative Panel on Human Rights Violations by the Defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other Units of the Nigerian Police Force sitting in Abuja has ordered Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to produce suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari before the panel on March 22.

The Panel gave the order following the inability of the counsel of Police James Idachaba to provide information about 3 citizens that were alleged missing when Abba Kyari was in Charge of the IGP-IRT.

Mr. Idachaba said the IRT Unit has been disbanded and various personnel of the Unit have been deployed to other places.

Representative of the Chairman of the Panel Mr Martin Aikpopo said the presence of Abba Kyari before the panel will avail the panel with necessary information needed in the course of the investigation.

The embattled Kyari, who has a series of petitions of rights violations pending against him before the #EndSARS panel, was also recently charged by the anti-drug agency with cocaine trafficking-related offences, while the Nigerian government pursues a suit for his extradition to the U.S. in court.
