The Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman has Charged officers and men of Nigerian police to redouble their efforts in securing lives and properties on the General populace.

IGP gave the Charge in Kano while receiving keys of two troop carrier lorries donated to Police Mobile Force, PMF Squadron Kano by the Community Policing stakeholder and Philanthropist, Alhaji Najib Ja’afar.

He warned officers and men to shun corruption and all other forms of social vices capable of tarnishing the image of the force.

The IGP represented by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Sadiq Bello charged the officers to be up and doing in the discharge of their responsibilities while noting that “much is expected from whom much is given.”

“No doubt, the donation of these new vehicles would enhance the operational capacity of the squadron thereby making movement of men in response to incidents easier and faster”

“Apart from augmenting the operational assets of the Squadron as well as reducing problems of logistics, this gesture will go a long way in fostering Police Community Relations which is one of the cardinal policing initiative of the present police administration”

He urged officers and men to be more committed to their duties, and ensure maintenance of the vehicles, respect and protect the right of Nigerians.

“On the other hand, may I use this medium to appeal to Kano and Jigawa State Governments as well as corporate bodies, Communities and individuals to Support the police in any way possible such as by overhauling/carrying out general repairs on our operational vehicles. It is only through such partnership that we shall be able to serve Nigerians better”

Earlier, the philanthropist and Chairman Tripple K. Investment, Najib Ja’afar said the gesture was his own way of giving back to the society towards ensuring safety of all and sundry.

He however pledge to donate two more vehicles each to the Zone One Police headquarters and the state command in order to boost their logistics and quick response intervention in the state.

On his part, the Commanding Officer, 9 Police Mobile Force Squadron, ACP Shuaibu Bello commended the philanthropist and the Community Policing stakeholder for their unrelenting efforts and gesture which he said will go a long way to assist it in effective discharge of it duties.
