IWDB : KDSG Disburses N200M To Vulnerable Women

Kaduna State Government has launched the disbursement of two hundred million naira to 1,428 Women under the State Women Empowerment Fund to boost their small scale businesses.

Governor Nasiru El-Rufai while flagging off the disbursement of the fund said it was part of activities marking this year’s International Women’s Day with the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.

Governor Nasiru Elrufai explained that, State Women Empowerment Fund is aimed at improving the standard of women and strengthening the resilience of poor and vulnerable women to their economic development through the provision of zero-interest loans.

Malam Nasiru Elrufai described women as a very committed people in the area of home building and supporting their families.

The Governor who noted that, the idea of Women empowerment fund was an initiative of the state Commissioner Ministry for Human Services and Social Development Hajia Hafsat Mohammad Baba, expressed gratitude to all women in his cabinet and other relevant stakeholders for their hardwork in making sure that, the programme remains a success.

He congratulated all the recipients of the empowerment fund and urged them to use the funds judiciously.

The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr ,Hadiza Balarabe Commended Governor El-Rufai for the immense support to women in his administration.

The Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmad Nuhu Bamali appreciated Kaduna state government for the gesture to all women.

The Emir who was represented by Sarkin Fadan Zazzau Alhaji Abbas Fatika wants the state government to partner with the traditional institution regarding to the women fund.


Earlier, Kaduna State Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development Hajiya Hafsat Baba said governor Elrufai had prioritised human capital development as a means of empowering the people.

Hafsat Baba pointed out that the loan would help empower women from poor households to grow their businesses.

Also Speaking, Kaduna state focal person social investment programme, Saude Atoyebi said the event marked two significant milestones which are the celebration of women around the world and disbursement of women fund.
