AKK Gas Pipeline Project Over 70% Complete – NNPC

The ongoing Ajakuta – Kaduna – Kano Gas pipeline project has reached 73.3 percent completion.

Group Executive Director Gas and Power of the NNPC, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ahmad announced this at a public lecture with the theme” Nigerian Gas Master Plan and Opportunities for the Northern Nigeria held in Kaduna.

Alhaji Ahmad who was represented by the General Manager, Commercial, Nigerian Gas Company, a subsidiary of NNPC Mr Emmanuel Egbokwuwe said the project has made tremendous progress.

He explained that, the AKK Gas pipeline project has already being divided into two to ensure that, it is completed within the stipulated time.

According to him, Kaduna State would have access to 900 megawatt of power generation, raw gas that can support spring up industries and powerplant among others when the project is completed.

The Excutive Secretary, National Board for Technical Education NBTE Professor Idris Bugaje described the Nigerian Gas Master Plant as the most important infrastructure in the country.

Professor Bugaje noted that, the solution to the inadequate power supply in the country is the Nigerian Gas Master Plan.

He emphasized the need for adequate sensitisation of investors on the need to commence establishment of plants and industries so that, when the AKK Gas pipeline project gets completed, the industries would be ready for usage.

The Emir of Lere, Alhaji Sulaiman Umaru, expressed gratitude to the organisers of the event for honouring him during the public lecture.

The public lecture was organised by the Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers, Kaduna Chapter in honour of the Emir of Lere, Alhaji Sulaiman Umaru.

The Public lecture with the theme” Nigerian Gas Master plan and opportunities for the Northern Nigeria brought together many stakeholders from the Engineering sector as well as the President of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Alhaji Saidu Mohammed.
