Nigerian Communications Commission-NCC says the telecommunications sector has been a strategic driver of the digital economy agenda of the federal government.

Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Professor Umar Garba Danbatta stated this at the NCC day on the sidelines of the ongoing forty-third Kaduna International Trade Fair.

Represented by Mr Attah Ogbadu, the EVC explained that the steady growth of the telecoms sector over the years with its pervasive positive impact on other sectors of the economy has been remarkable.

He maintained that to sustain this, the NCC continues to create a conducive environment that stimulates development of robust telecoms infrastructure for improving the quality of service and quality of experience for telecoms consumers.

He pointed out that the commission is working assiduously with various stakeholders to see how more businesses can embrace digital platforms to deliver their services to the consumer.

Professor Umar Garba Danbatta added that telecoms services have direct and indirect benefits for businesses such as improved cross-team collaboration, increased employee productivity and satisfaction among others.

In his remarks, President of the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture-KADCCIMA, Alhaji Suleiman Aliyu said the contribution of the telecoms sector to gross domestic product has increased significantly over the years.

Represented by Alhaji Faruk Suleiman, the KADCCIMA President urged the NCC to sustain and improve on its regulatory activities, increase GSM coverage in the country and ensure improved quality service delivery by service providers.

Highlight of the event was a raffle draw where lucky winners were presented with phones.
