Kano State : Property Worth Over N18million Razed By Fire

An early afternoon fire has burnt properties worth millions of naira at first lady college Mariri, Nasarawa local government Kano.

The building used as ware house by Kano state emergency management agency (SEMA),and other parts of the school were burnt to ashes.

Narrating the incident the executive secretary of SEMA Dr. Saleh Aliyu Jili explained that, emergency relief items were completely razed by the inferno.

He said, 900 pieces of mattress and pillows,diapers, granding machines, sewing machines, vulcanizing machine, detergents and other items were lost.

Dr. Saleh Jili said the items were received from the federal government to assist internally displaced person’s.

“Properties worth eight million ,five hundred and sixty eight thousand naira,including sixty eight cartons of diapers”

The executive secretary said offices, classes,roofing and desks were wiped out by the disaster.

He said a team will visit the school to access the level of damages for onward submission to the government for possible assistance.

“His excellency is dedicated to educational improvement and there’s no doubt that he will take the necessary action so the students of the school are not affected”.

Dr. Saleh,attributed the fire to grass burning, and charged the general public to be more vigilant and desist from grass burning and other similar acts, capable of inciting fire and similar disasters.

Radio Nigeria reports that,in February 2022 a fire outbreak wiped out grain silos and residential homes worth millions of naira at Tsarande village in Ajingi local government area.
