FG, World Bank Disburse N226M To Women In Niger

A total of three thousand seven hundred and seventy five women affinity groups in Niger state are to benefit from the two hundred and twenty six million naira livelihood grants of Federal Government and the World Bank.

The grants which is under the Nigeria for Women Project of Federal Ministry of Women Affairs is targeted at improving the socio economic status of women by way of creating wealth for economic prosperity.

Minister of Women Affairs Mrs Paulin Talen stated this at the official flag off of disbursement of over fourteen million naira to two hundred and thirty two women in three local government councils of Niger state held at Gurara local government.

Mrs Paulin Talen explained that the second batch of eight hundred and seventy five women are also expected to benefit from over fifty two million naira grants in the second batch of the disbursement exercise.

According to her the three participating local government councils in Niger state are Agaie Wushishi and Gurara.

Flagging off the disbusement exercise, Niger state Governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello cautioned them against diverting the money meant to improve their living condition.

He explained that the grant is to serve as a stimulus for the improvement of whatever income generating activity the women are into for maximum benefits.

State Commissioner of Women Affairs Hajiya Tasalla Fatima Ibrahim commended the Niger state govẹrnment for its support to women to become self reliant.
