Banditry : Two Killed, Scores Injured In Niger State

Two persons have been killed and many others injured in an attack by armed bandits in Niger state.

Similarly some vehicles have been burnt in addition to the kidnap of many others by the rampaging armed bandits at Saho_rami in Mashegu local government council of Niger state about two day ago.

An eye witness who did not want his name mentioned told Radio Nigeria that the bandits came in their large number carrying dangerous weapons on motorcycles which coincided with their market day and shooting sporadicaly to scare villagers.

Activities of armed bandits in Niger state have been on the increase in some parts of the state as some terrorists invaded a section of the popular Minna Suleja road, abducted two construction workers at Lambata and whisked them away to an unknown destination.

Action by the bandits is viewed more as repraisal attack following recent killing of about eight bandits in that area by combined security agencies and vigilante.

Niger state Commissioner of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security Mr Emmanuel Umar while addressing Newsmen after an emergency security meeting in Minna reaffirmed the determination of the state govẹrnment in safeguarding lives and property at all cost, to justify the confidence reposed on them.

But many political analysts have expressed fears that the problem of insecurity if remain unchecked may jeopardise the twenty twenty three general elections.
