Sports Key To Sustainable Youth Development – Minister

The Minister of Sports and Youths Development, Mr Sunday Dare says investing in sports is central to achieving youth development in the country.

The minister stated this in Sokoto while inspecting the ongoing construction of state own sport complex by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s administration.

Mr. Sunday Dare explained that investing in sport infrastructure is also a major source of revenue to the government that could guarantee socio-cultural and economic development in the country.

He noted that when completed, the sport facility would promote youth involvement in sport and check youth restiveness in the state.

The minister who commended governor Tambuwal said the move would also facilitate the grooming of young athletes
that could compete with international communities.

In his speech, Gov. Tambuwal said so far about three point five billion naira has been expanded on the project.

The governor disclosed that if completed the sport complex will accommodate eleven thousand five hundred fans capacity in the stadium and an indoor sport hall that could hold one thousand people at a time.

He said three basketball courts, three tennis courts and one handball field are under construction.

It will also have two squash courts, two aerobic halls, three gymnastics halls and one table tennis and swimming pool hall, in addition to roasters, adequate conveniences, store and spectators rack.
