Unpaid Salaries :Staff Of Nagarta Radio Stage Protest

Staff of Nagarta radio have staged a peaceful protest to press home their demands for prompt payment of their salaries, entitlements and better working condition.

The protest, which resulted to the locking up of the station’s main entrance, was conducted at the instance of the station’s General Manager, Mallam AbdulMalik Addy.

Speaking on behalf of the staff, former Secretary of Nagarta NUJ chapel- Zulkiflu Abdullahi Matata said the non-payment of staff salaries and other entitlements for over five months has subjected them to untold hardships.

Also speaking, another staff of the station, Zainab Sodangi noted that they have endured for long, and efforts to engage the management had not yielded positive outcomes.

Responding, General Manager of the station, Mallam AbdulMalik Addy appealed for calm, patience and understanding on the part of the staff, stressing that the condition was necessitated by the global economic crunch and impact of covid nineteen.

He assured that as soon as the station recovers its outstanding debts, the station would not hesitate to settle staff their benefits.

Radio Nigeria reports that some staff of Nagarta radio were seen carrying placards with various inscriptions, while the Police were on ground to ensure law and order.
