A bomb suspected to be planted by Insurgents has exploded at Galadima Kogo in Shiroro local government council of Niger state killing four members of Civil Defence Corps and leaving one person severely injured.

The incident has forced many villagers to flee the area to avoid being killed by the rampaging terrorists.

The insurgents werẹ said to have attacked Galadima Kogo in their large numbers shooting sporadicaly to scare villagers and killing some civilians and injuring many others.

When contacted on telephone, Niger state Commissioner of Local Government Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security Mr Emmanuel Umar confirned the incident saying it was a repraisal attack.

Mr Emmanuel Umar said about two days ago there was security activities in that area where bandits stronghold was attacked by security agencies in their attempt to flush out all criminal elements in the forest.

He appealed to Nigerlites to be calm as Niger state govẹrnment under the leadership of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello will continue to do everything possible to ensure lives and properties are protected at all cost.

On civilian casualty Mr Emmanuel Umar said they were yet to establish the actual number of civilian killed but however said Niger state govẹrnment and security agencies were on top of the matter.

He also reminded Nigerlites that any person who volunteered to give credible intelligence to security agencies would be rewarded .
