Grain farmers and marketers have promised to support federal government effort towards ensuring food sufficiency in the county. 

President Amana Grains supplier Association Alhaji Haruna Fambeguwa made the promise while briefing newsmen shortly after meeting with Muna markert traders in Maiduguri. 

Alhaji Haruna explained that his visit to Maiduguri is to interact with grains farmers and traders and identify better ways of boosting food production in the state which has started witnessing relative peace. 

He appealed to the Federal government to provide farmers with fertilizer at a subsidized rate and also monitor the activities of fertilizer blending plants across the country. 

The President of the Association advocated for a special intervention to farmers in Borno state who have suffered alot of devastation due to the insurgency.

He also cautioned traders against hoarding of food items which contributes to food inflation. 

Chairman , Muna grains market Bulama Alhaji appreciated the President for the visit explaining that before the insurgency the market was among the largest in West Africa. 

According to him business activities have started picking up, calling on federal and state government to come to their aid.
