Nigerian Defence Academy-NDA has conducted beating of the retreat for short service cadets course forty-seven in Kaduna.

The exercise signifies the culmination of the training period for cadets, while the award ceremony is an opportunity to reward hardwork by individual cadets who have excelled in military training.

Addressing guests at the ceremony, Commandant of the Academy, Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf noted that the training period which was initially scheduled for nine months, was extended by two months in order to equip cadets with special skills required to deal with threats within the theatre of operations.

The Commandant pointed out that training of the cadets had stretched the human and material resources of the Academy beyond limits.

In a remark, the special guest of honour, Major General Lawrence Ngubane (rtd), charged the cadets to remain focused, dedicated and committed to their duties and responsibilities upon graduation.

He also reminded them of the prevailing security situation, and urged them to be good ambassadors of the Academy through discipline, loyalty, sub-ordination to civil authority and emplacement of national interests above personal interests.

Highlight of the event was the combat march display, band display and bonfire ceremony.
