APPEALS: Ginger Farmers Receive Training, Equipment To Boost Production In Kaduna

One Thousand Three Hundred and Ninety-Two Ginger Farmers have received farm inputs including Power tillers and fertilizers to boost Ginger production and training in 7 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.

State Team Officer of the World Bank Project known as Agro-Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support Project, APPEALS Dr. Yahaya Aminu stated this while presenting the equipment to some beneficiaries in Kachia Local Government Area of the state.

Dr. Yahaya Aminu explained that the farmers in their determination to expand Ginger production followed laid down procedures to acquire the equipment after receiving various training under the World Bank APPEALS project.

He stated that the Appeals project focused on 3 areas of the Agricultural value chain which were Ginger, Maize, and Dairy production stressing that the program is being implemented in 6 states of the country.

In a speech, the state commissioner for Agriculture Alhaji Garba Huseini said government had placed ginger production among its first value chain priorities.

He emphasized that government would continue to support the APPEALS project as it was targeted at empowering farmers and improving agricultural productivity.

Some of the beneficiaries for the inputs Mr. Andrew Chokson, Madam Marta Fidelis, and Mr. Dauda Yakubu commended the efforts of the Government and the APPEALS officials.

According to them, the project has brought overwhelming progress in their Agricultural businesses and promised to make good use of the facilities presented to them.


In a remark, the District Head of Kachia expressed confidence of bounty harvest in proceeding years as a result of the facilities and warned the Farmer against selling the inputs presented to them under the APPEALS project.
