SCI Donates N55m Lifesaving Equipment In Jigawa

Oxygen Cylinders donated by Save the Children International and GSK

A Non-Governmental Organization, Save the Children International SCI has donated medical lifesaving equipment worth N55 Million naira to 4 General Hospitals in Jigawa state. 

The Chief of Party, Dr Adamu Isah stated this while presenting the equipment at the Save the Children office in Dutse.

He explained that, 40 Cylinders of Oxygen worth N47 Million had been given to General Hospitals in Hadejia, Gumel, Babura and Kazaure respectively.

According to him, another N8million has been used to train Doctors and Nurses that are presently on ground to handle the life saving facilities in the 4 General Hospitals.

Also speaking, the representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Director Hospital Services, Dr. Bashir Ahmed said Save the Children International and GlaxoSmithKline GSK have brought so many assistance to state.

He said the NGO was the first to make Pneumonia an issue of serious concern in Jigawa.

He said Save the Children had also brought oxygen to many health facilities and trained the health workers on how to use them.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the representative of Medical Directors of Secondary Health Facilities in the state, Dr Nura Lawan Basirka says the equipment can save the lives of both children and adults.
