KNSG Committed To Eradicating Drug Abuse – Official

The Special Adviser to Kano state governor on health services,Dr. fauziyya Buba Idris said the state government is committed to the fight against drug abuse and other societal vices.

Dr. Fauziyya made the disclosure during a one day sensitization meeting with mentors from Kano state tertiary institutions,held in Kano.

The special adviser on health services, who doubles as the chairperson female anti drug ambassadors explained that,the Ganduje led administration has recorded remarkable success in the fight against drug peddling and abuse.

She pointed out that, guidance and counseling mentors from tertiary institutions were invited to undergo rigorous training, on how to monitor and counsel their students to curtail the menace of drug abuse.

Dr. Fauziyya Buba said, the anti drug ambassadors and mental health committees would commence advocacy visits to all tertiary institutions, to enlighten students about the dangers of drug abuse,which is one of the major catalysts to societal crimes.

She described Kano as the first to constitute committees on drug abuse and mental health to promote the health of its citizens.

Some of the participants who spoke to Radio Nigeria,Saadatu Shehu Mai Mota from Kano state college of education and premilinary studies, and Fatima Garba Ahmed from Aminu Kano college of Islamic and legal studies,described the meeting as apt.

They decried over rising cases of drug abuse among people especially women and youths and urged government and relevant stakeholders to do the needful.

The meeting was attended by guidance and counseling mentors from tertiary institutions,health professionals, journalists and the general public.
