The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, says it has arrested a 58 years old woman , Modupe Bello of Bacita in Edu local government area of the State over alleged human trafficking and child labour.

Parading the suspect in Ilorin,the spokesman of the command, Babawale Afolabi said three children were recovered from the woman during a raid carried out at her residence in Bacita .

According to him one Agbaje Oluwafemi reported at the Bacita Divisional Office of the NSCDC that his 18 years old daughter, Damilola Agbaje was missing.

Afolabi said her whereabout has been unknown since January 18, 2022 and that Damilola’s parents suspected Madam Modupe Bello because she was the one that came to meet them few days earlier begging the parents to release Damilola to her.

He explained that Detectives from the intelligence and investigations department swung into action and a raid was carried out at the woman’s residence in Bacita where three children were recovered while some photographs believed to be of the children that she had trafficked were also discovered.

Afolabi noted that during interrogation, the suspect admitted trafficking children to work as housemaids adding that she denied knowing the whereabout of Damilola.

He said the suspect has been transfered to the Anti -human trafficking and illegal migration Unit of the corps for proper investigations.
