Hanifa’s Murder : Kano State Files Fresh Charges Against Culprits

Kano State government has filed fresh count of charges against the arraigned killer and two accomplices of Miss Hanifa before a Kano State High Court.

The State Director of Public Prosecution, Barrister Aisha Mahmoud disclosed this to newsmen after the case came up for mention at the Magistrate court.

Barrister Aisha explained that the government filed the charges at the High Court because the Magistrate court lacks the jurisdiction to try the offences filed against the defendants.

The DPP pointed out that they have appealed to the court to remand the accused persons pending the hearing of the case at the high court.

” we informed the court that we have filed a five count charges before the High Court. The Chief Judge has directed the case to Court 5 and they are expected to fix a date for the persons to be arraign before the court”

The Magistrate court presided over by Chief Magistrate Mohammed Jibrin granted the prayers and ordered the accused persons to be remanded in custody.

Chief Magistrate Jubril however adjourned the case to February 9th, 2022.

The charges filed against Abdulmalik and his accomplice borders on criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, confinement and culpable homicide contrary to section 97, 274, 277 and 221 of the penal code.

Radio Nigeria recalls that, Abdulmalik Tanko and his accomplice are accused of kidnapping and killing his five year old student Hanifa.
