General Office Commanding eight Division Nigeria Army Major General Uwen Bassey says security is improving in the north Western part of the country.

The GOC stated this at the twenty twenty one West African Social Activities, WASA. held in Sokoto state.

The Commanding officer said Army was doing alot in assisting the police and other security agencies in addressing internal security as slated in the Constitution.

Major General Uwen said the problem of internal security was a global issue, noting that all hands must be on deck in addressing security challenges in the country.

He assured that the army would continue to do its best in a bid to ensuring peace in the country.

While commenting on the annual event, the GOC said the WASA gives opportunity for officers and men as well as their families and friends to interact freely.

He explained that the WASA was a forum for showcasing cultural displays from various ethic groups in the country with a view to promoting unity among Nigerians.

In a message to the occasion,Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of sokoto state commended the eight Division stressing that despite operational engagement against Banditry, the army managed to organised such an important event that fosters unity among Nigerians.

While conveying message of the Governor, the secretary to the state government,Alh. Saidu Umar Ubandoma said the state government would continue to support the Army for effective service delivery.
