Ministry of Transportation has handed over security vehicles to the management of Nigeria Railway Corporation.

Six Hilux vehicles to aid security along the Abuja Kaduna rail line have been handed over to the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC by the Federal Ministry of Transportation.

Handing over the vehicles to the management of the NRC at the Idu train station, the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani said the vehicles were part of the ministry’s 2021 strategy to ensure safety of lives and property along the rail corridor.

Managing Director of the NRC, Mr Fidet Okhiria explained that the vehicles would monitor and track activities of people along the rail route to ensure law and order.

Mr Okhiria said the project would be replicated in all the rail corridors.

A set of scanners were also commissioned and handed over to the NRC.
