Two Chinese expatriates working with Zungeru Hydroelectric Dam Project have been kidnappeded, another one shot and two security guards killed in an attack by gunmen at Zungeru headquarters of Wushishi local government council of Niger state.   

An eye witness who did not want his name mentioned told Radio Nigeria in a telephone interview that the incident occurred around four oclock when the armed bandits stormed the area. 

He also said the gunmen who came on motorcycles in large numbers started shooting sporadicaly before abducting the two Chinese expatriates to an unknown destination.

Secretary to the Niger state Govẹrnment Ahmed Ibrahim Matane who confirned the incident however did not comment on alleged killing of two persons by rampaging armed bandits.

Ahmed Ibrahim Matane explained that security agencies are currently trailing the bandits with a view to ensuring the Chinese expatriates abducted were released unhurt.

Commissioner of Police in charge of Niger state Mr Monday Bala Kuryas also confirned the incident in a telephone interview.

Mr Monday Bala Kuryas who is on his way to the area for an on the spot assessment however explained that further clarifications would be done later.

The Chinese Nationals were working ọn a high tension extension from Zungeru Dam to Gusasa community when the armed bandits struck.
