National Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displayed Persons, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim has flagged off Resettlement City in Zamfara State.

The Resettlement City Project was initiated in 2020 with the purpose of addressing the Housing challenge of Persons of Concern, especially Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs.

At the ground breaking ceremony, the National Commissioner said that the project was in line with the fulfilment of the mandate of the Commission to provide succor to Persons of Concerns.

The Resettlement will comprise of 30 units of one Bedroom, 30 units of two Bedroom, worship centres, educational learning centre, skills acquisition centre, recreational area, and Police Station.

She reiterated the Commission’s mandate of providing protection, assistance and ensuring that durable solutions are proffered for displaced persons and Communities in the country.

The Commissioner who thanked the Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Bello Matawalle for approving the allocation of a land for the commencement of the Resettlement City announced that the Commission would transform existing temporary camps into resettlement cities.
