Federal Government says it will continue to accord priority to policies that will enhance the growth of small and medium scale businesses in the country.

The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo stated this while inaugurating a “Fashion cluster” built by the Federal Government in Owerri as part of programmes to mark the 29th edition of the National Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME Clinic, an initiative under the office of the Vice President.

He said the facility, which has about two hundred sophisticated sewing machines, was established to support those in the garment industry to improve the quality of clothing they produce.

Professor Osibanjo explained that the government instituted the MSME Clinic to bring small business owners together with regulatory agencies to interface and find better ways of growing their businesses.

The Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodimma commended Federal Government for the intervention, noted that unemployment was a major challenge to the people of the southeast geo-political zone.

He said his administration had commenced the revitalization of moribund industries in the state and appealed to the federal government to assist the state in bringing back the state-owned shoe industry on stream.
