Written by Yusuf Zubairu

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged ECOWAS member-states to work in unison to effectively address the numerous problems threatening peaceful existence in the sub-region.

He gave the advice in Abuja at the opening of the 60th Ordinary Session Of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the ECOWAS.

He observed that today’s realities should remind member-states of the need to continue to forge stronger solidarity to address new challenges, including the current third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and its Omicron variant.

President Buhari urged member-states to carefully consider the issues to be presented at the summit and take well-informed decisions on them for the welfare and well-being of their peoples and the future of ECOWAS.

Towing the observations of President Buhari, the President of Ghana, Nana Akuffo-Addo, faulted the travel ban imposed on some ECOWAS member-states and called vaccine production locally.

He condemned the continuous killings of innocent lives in the sub-region by terrorists.
