The Nasarawa State Ministry of health has confirmed two cases of Lassa fever in the state.

The Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of health, Dr. Janet Anbagzo confirmed this during Press conference in Lafia, the State Capital.

Dr. Janet Anbagzo said another three suspected cases of the fever is being monitored closely to avoid spreading it to other people.

According to her, this is the time where the mastomys rodent enter houses because of bush burning and warned citizens of the state to desist from such attitudes.

The Permanent Secretary of the State health ministry also appealed to citizens to take precautionary measures to avert being infected with the fever.

Dr. Janet Anbagzo explained that, plans are on the way for the State to commence diagnosis at the State Infectious Disease Diagnosis and Research Center.

She however outlined some of the preventive measures to include storing food items in rodent-proof containers and keeping the home clean to discourage rodents from entering home among others.
