Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has impounded an articulated vehicle conveying vandalized railway facilities in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area.

The State Public Relations Officer of NSCDC Mr. Jerry Victor confirmed this while parading the suspected vandals in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.

Mr. Jerry Victor explained that the vehicle conveying 630 pieces of cut rails and 90 pieces of rail slippers suspected to have been vandalized from Mada Station in Nasarawa Eggon was intercepted in an operation led by the State Commandant of NSCDC Mr. Abbas Bappa.

Mr. Jerry however pointed out that the drivers of the vehicle were assisting the command with information about the people who hired them to convey the vandalized railway facilities.

One of the suspects, Mr. Mas’udu Ibrahim who identified himself as one of the drivers of the vehicle said they were hired from Katsina state to convey the railway items.

He added that they were paid ₦500,000 to convey the items to Ilorin, Kwara State but on reaching Mada Station where the items were hidden, insisted that ₦200,000 be added having noticed that was railway facilities.
