The President of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, has arrived at the presidential house in Abuja to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, accompanied by a delegation of ministers and business executives, is on a state visit to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as partnerships focused on African development and collaboration in multilateral fora.

On his arrival at the Villa on Wednesday, he was greeted by a guard of honour and a 21-gun salute.

This is President Ramaphosa’s first visit to Nigeria as president of South Africa since taking office in 2017. He had visited in 2018 as an acting president.

His visit would take place on the same day that Nigeria announced 2 cases of the Omicron COVID19 virus strain.

According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the 2 cases, who travelled from South Africa last week are asymptomatic

THe omicron is believed to have originated from South Africa.
