The Nigeria Correctional Service has confirmed the Sunday attack on the Jos Correctional centre by yet to be indentified gunmen.
In a statement the, Public Relations Officer of the service Mr O F Enobore said the gunmen who came in their number invaded the prison yard at about 5:20 p.m on Sunday with sophisticated weapons shooting sporadically before breaking into the yard.
He said the gunmen were trapped within as men from sister security services were immediately mobilised to assist the armed guards to cordon the perimeter wall and the entire area.
Enobore said the situation was put under control as the attackers firing power was subdued by superior fire from a combined team of security agencies.
The PRO was however quite on casualties but promised to make more details available as event unfolds.
