Niger State To Resist ISWAP Presence- SSG

Niger state government has vowed not to allow the Islamic State Of West African Province ISWAP to establish its permanent camp in the state.

Secretary to the State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane announced this while addressing Newsmen in Minna on measures taken to tackle security situation in the state.

Ahmed Ibrahim Matane alleged that members of ISWAP have been trying to establish their permanent camp at Borgu local government council of Niger state bordering Benin Republic and that the state will resist any attempt by ISWAP to accomplish it.

Ahmed Ibrahim Matane however explained that bandits who wrecked havoc in some communities in Niger state do come from their camp in Chikun local government council of Kaduna state.

According to him, coordinated approach is needed by states bordering Niger state to minimize cases of armed banditry, cattle rustling and kidnappings in their areas to maximum results.

He confirmed the presence of Boko Haram and ISWAP in some areas of Shiroro Local Government Council which the government is doing its best to address.
