Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has directed for the immediate ban on sales of motorcycles across the state.

This is contained in a statement signed and issued to Newsmen by Secretary to the State Government Ahmed Ibrahim Matane in Minna.

Ahmed Ibrahim Matane said the ban followed security challenges in some parts of the state coupled with demands of motorcycles as ransom by armed bandits.

He explained that the category of motorcycles affected by this ban includes BAJAJ Boxer Quijeng Honda ACE Jingchen and any other with engine capacity from one hundred and eighty five and above.

Hẹ said all these categories of motorcycles had been banned from selling to public throughout Niger state.

Ahmed Ibrahim Matane condemned in strong terms the carnage and pandemonium bandits and kidnappers are carrying in some parts of Niger state and reaffirmed continued government determination to rid the state of any security threat.

Hẹ however ordered security agencies to ensure effective and strict enforcement of the order.
