Nigerian Meteorological Agency NIMET has organized a two-day training for Staff of Kaduna International Airport on Quality Management systems to acquire more knowledge of their operations.

The Head of Quality Management System of the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Ishaku Ibrahim stated this during the commencement of the training in Kaduna.

Mr. Ishaku explained that 54 members of staff from the various units were expected to benefit at the end of the training

He said the purpose was to create awareness to the Staff of Kaduna International Airport on the Quality Management System of the International Organisation for Standardisation ISO

Mr. Ishaku Ibrahim noted that the agency had implemented ISO 9001 – 2015 since 2013 at the Kano, Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt International Airports.

According to him, the management of the agency certified that the implementation of ISO 9001 has assisted in its operational activities thereby improving quality service delivery.

He further revealed that the management decided to extend the quality Management system ISO 9001 – 2015 standard to six additional Airports Including that of Kaduna.

‘It is the expectations to create more awareness to the airport staff to key into the idea and project of quality management system ISO 9001 standard so that, by the time it’s been implemented fully, they will be able to deliver adequately

“The ISO 9001 – 2015 has been for Aeronautical Metrological Services while ISO 2990 – 2010 has been implemented in our WMO regional training Center at Oshodi which is also a requirement of the World Metrological Organisation,” Mr. Ishaku said

He further explained that ISO 17025 would soon be implemented at NIMET calibration laboratory which was also International standardard for calibration

The Head added that ISO was also a requirement for the world’s methodological organizations.

Radio Nigeria reports that six additional International airports to benefit from the implementation of ISO 9001of 2015 are Yola, Katsina, Kaduna, Enugu, Asaba, and Ibadan.
