Kaduna State Government is to ensure full implementation of Violence against persons, prohibition, and penal code regarding rape laws and more accessible to communities in the State.

The Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe stated this at the Tertiary Institutions Youth Vanguard Dialogue on Popularizing the laws, organized by Habiba Dangana Foundation, at Ahmadu Bello University ABU, Zaria.

Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe says violence against females and children is punishable and victims must have access to speedy dispensation of justice and support from legal institutions.

She applauded the effort of partners whose personal commitments were in bringing visibility for the violence against persons especially women and children.

The Deputy Governor, therefore, urged traditional leaders and religious institutions to support the effort by ensuring the said offenders in our community were exposed.

In a presentation, the Commissioner, Humanitarian Services and Social Development, Haj. Hafsat Muhammed Baba said the law actually takes care of any form of violence meted out on a person either sexual, emotional, psychological, or any form of Violence.

She also appealed to community leaders and civil society organizations to cover all the nooks and corners in the state to enlighten the general population on the importance of the law.

Similarly, In a message, the Vice-chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Prof. Kabiru Bala, said the University was in the process of signing into law gender violence policy while commending the Foundation for organizing the Dialogue on Popularizing the VAPP law and assured ABU’s support to achieve the desired gaols.

Early, the Director of the foundation Dr Amina Salihu said the aim of organising the dialogue with the Tertiary Institutions community in Kaduna state was to enlighten them on Popularizing the VAPP law.

She confirmed that the Foundation would initiate partnerships to create or strengthen the community vanguards who would carry outreach programs, document abuses, and share information with sexual Assault Referral centers for effective response mechanisms across the communities.
