Commander of a notorious group of bandits terrorising some communities in Shiroro local government council of Niger state Alhaji Na Mata has reportedly surrendered and handed over about four Ak47 rifles to the Joint Security Task Force in the area.

The Task Force are in Iburu general area of operation which is the epicentre of banditry before their arrival.

It was discovered that the Commander has voluntarily handed over himself and his weapons after suffering devastating defeat in his encounter with members of the Task Force.

The Commander decided to do that after two of his children who were also members of his gang were neutralised during an encounter with the Joint Security Task Force.

A source from Iburo community however said the Commander carried out series of banditry related attacks in the area before the Security Task Force began operation.
